Capable of recording in RAW file format

The OnePlus 5 is capable of recording videos in RAW image file format for better quality images. Great for enthusiast photographers who want greater freedom when editing their images in photo editing software like Adobe Photoshop Lightroom.

For me a good high ISO performance is very important. Even if you have a f/1.7 lens, having a good high ISO performance means that you have more room for shooting in an even darker lighting conditions and still getting good quality images. Many of the mobile phones cameras perform well up to ISO 400...

The OnePlus 5 features very sharp optics. I've checked out the OnePlus 5 sample images on dpreview and I was really surprised by the sharpness of the f/1.7 lens. If you don't know, the OP5 features two lenses at the back, one a 24mm (equivalent) f/1.7 lens and a second 2x 36mm (equivalent) f/2.6...

The OnePlus 5, unlike the OnePlus 3T, lacks an optical image stabilization for either of its rear-facing cameras. This has an impact on the low-light performance of course, and some say because of this it's behind the OnePlus 3T in that aspect. I've read the OnePlus 5 vs OnePlus 3T camera comparison...

The zoom lens has a narrower aperture

The OnePlus 5 features two cameras at the back, one with a f/1.7 lens and a second one with a f/2.6 lens, which is less ideal for low-light photography because of its slower aperture (less light can pass through the lens.

Lost of RAM (8GB)

The OnePlus 5 (OP5) comes with a whopping 8GB of RAM. Now we are talking about a laptop RAM capacity. My laptop computer has 8GB of RAM. This can help improve multi-tasking performance, as you can open more high memory demanding apps at the same time.

Uses the most powerful Snapdragon SoC to date, Snapdragon 835

The OnePlus 5 runs on Qualcomm's most powerful Snapdragon processor, the Snapdragon 835, built using 10nm technology (compared to 14nm of the SD821), offering 30% better efficiency, 27% higher performance and 40% less battery power consumption, as well as many other improvements.

To be honest, I was disappointed to see that the OnePlus 5 doesn't come with a microSD card slot. The base model comes with 64GB of internal storage and the higher end model with 128GB. The good news is that there is that the storage capacities are very generous. The bad side is that many uses want...

Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for extra protection

The front screen of the OP5 comes with 2.5D Gorilla Glass 5, the latest version of Gorilla Glass to date, so you get a high-quality glass that can further protect the phone from drops and scratches.

In this disadvantage I want to talk about VR, but let's start by talking about the screen first. One of the disadvantage of the OnePlus 5 in my opinion is that it comes with only a Full HD (1080x1920 pixels) display. It's a good display don't get me wrong, but I think that for a 5.5-inch high-end...

Durable all-meta unibody design

The OnePlus 5 features a durable and lightweight all-metal design. OnePlus also mentioned a space-grade aluminum, so we are looking at a high-grade material as well.

Slim design (7.25mm thick)

The OnePlus 5 is OnePlus' thinnest flagship smartphone to date, measuring only 7.25mm, so it's really slim and sleek looking.

Available in a wide variety of colors

The OnePlus 5 is available in a wide variety of colors, including Black, Red, Blue, Green and Purple. Users can select their favorite colors instead of being limited to only one or just a few color options.

Many of the high-end smartphones nowadays come with water-resistance protection. The OnePlus 5 however lacks water resistance. I'm sure that many users expected this flagship phone to have a certified Intentional Protection Marking based on the IEC standard 60529 like many of the other premium...

Looks exactly like the 3T from the front

When I buy a new phone I want it to look different than my previous one that I'm upgraded from. The OP5 looks almost identical to the 3T before it, at least from the front. Hope that OP will put more effort on the design next time.

I don't get it why OnePlus continues to bring phones that look almost exactly like the iPhone (judging by the official released OP5 images). The OnePlus 5 looks like the iPhone 7 Plus. This is disappointing, but not something that will prevent someone from buying the phone obviously. If you thing...

3.5mm standard audio port is still here

It's great to see that although the OP5 features a type-C USB connector, OnePlus didn't remove the 3.5mm standard headphone jack, so it's still here for you to enjoy.

I'm writing this before the OnePlus 5 was even announced. However, OnePlus already revealed some information regarding the audio recording quality of the OP5. The new OnePlus 5 will feature an improved microphone with higher dynamic range. They have posted a OnePlus 3 vs OnePlus 5 audio quality...

Latest version of Android as of its release (Nougat 7.1.1)

The OnePlus 5 comes with the latest version of Android as of its release, Android Nougat 7.1.1, although Android O is just around the corner. I just hope that OP5 owners will be able to get a fast OS upgrade, but not sure due to the custom Android-based Oxygen OS.

Great bag for the buck!

The OnePlus 5 is an amazing phone, can't recall another phone that gives you so much band for the buck. If you are searching for a powerful premium phone for a good price, the OP5 should be at the top of your list.
