The Gionee A1 comes with a 16MP 1/3" sensor and a f/2.0 aperture lens front camera. I've seen sample images taken with the selfie camera and I have to say that I was very pleased with the results. Gionee definitely aimed this phone for selfie enthusiast. How I know that? because we don't get to see...

Fixed-focus front camera can lead to blurry selfies

The front camera of the Gionee A1 has fixed-focus lens. This means that it can't autofocus on your face based on the distance of your face from the camera. You have to be at the right distance from the camera to get a sharp image. This can lead to some blurry selfies.

Tons of storage space (64GB)

The Gionee A1 comes with plenty of storage space.I believe that 64GB is more than enough for the target audience that this phone is aimed for. You can store plenty of images, videos and apps without worrying about running out of space anytime soon.

I was expecting a better chipest than the MediaTek Helio P10 one considering its price (INR 21,999, around $335). This is a processor that you found on much cheaper phones, like the Elephone P9000 (~$170), Blackview R7 (~$130), Alcatel Flash Plus (~$156), Umi Super (~$159), definitely not for a...

Boring design, nothing special to report

The Gionee A1 has a really uninspiring design. I think that we've just got used to seeing those same iPhone-wanna-be smartphones. There is just nothing special to talk about the design. Gionee, Is it so hard to make a phone look different?

The Gionee A1 features an AMOLED display. Many of us learned to love the AMOLED display for its over-saturated colors and deep blacks. The AMOLED display also benefit from lower power consumption, because when it displays a black color, it just shuts down those specific pixels that represent a black...

The Gionee A1 Plus features a very big 5.5-inch display. It cramps up Fuil HD 1080p resolution, which it isn't bad. The image will still look very clear and sharp. Some might say that it's better to have a Quad HD resolution for such a large screen size, but the thing is that this is a mid-range...

Huge 4010 mAh battery

Gionee took advantage of the A1 large size and packs a huge 4010 mAh battery in it, which should result in great battery life, so you can play longer, shoot more pictures and watch videos without worrying about the battery dying on you in the middle of the day so fast.
