Today I've visited YouTube to take a look at some Moto G5 Plus sample videos because I wanted to know how good is the video quality. I really love the stills quality, and I expected the video to be the same. I have to say that the image quality is just superb. I've watched a 4K UHD sample video on...

Capable of 4K video recording

The Moto G5 is capable of recording videos up to 4K Ultra HD resolution at 30 frames per second. This is a very high-resolution video that will look great on a 4K display. If you have one, it's a big advantage.

The Motorola Moto G5 Plus rear-facing camera produces on of the the most beautiful to watch images that I've seen coming from a mobile phone, at least in my observation. It really does an amazing job all across the board, including color reproduction, sharpness, dynamic range, image details,...

I've judging the low-light performance and image quality parameters based on Moto G5 Plus samples images that I've seen on dpreview. This is a very reliable resource so I know that these are in fact camera samples taken with the Moto G5 Plus and not another camera. The web is full of fake images and...

The Moto G5 Plus features a very fast PDAF autofocus system. The Moto G5 Plus rear camera uses a Sony sensor that has large 1.4μm pixels, and it also sports a fast dual-pixel phase-detection AF system. If this is the same sensor as the Vivo Xplay 6, we are looking at around 0.03 second AF...

HDR produces natural-looking results

I've checked out the sample images taken by dpreview with HDR on and off, and the HDR really helps opening up the details in the shadow areas and the overall image looked really natural. So the HDR seems to perform quite well.

The Motorola Moto G5 Plus comes with a 12MP Sony IMX362 sensor based rear-facing camera alongside a F1.7 aperture lens. This is the same renowned IMX362 sensor used in as part of the dual-lens camera system of the Vivo Xplay 6 smartphone. However, the Xplay 6 has a secondary 5MP camera that obtains...

This post is based on predicted specs for the Moto G5 Plus front camera. I have to admit that I was disappointed to hear that the front camera uses the Omnivision OV5695 sensor. I've seen how it performs on other phones and wasn't a big fan of the image quality in general. In this disadvantage post...

Expandable storage using microSD card

If your find the built-in storage (32GB or 64GB) limited for your specific needs, you can always expand it using a micro SD card, but keep in mind that the phone supports cards up to 128GB only.

Heating issues

The Moto G5 Plus seems to have heating issues as reported by gadgets.ndtv.com in their review. I remember many people reporting this issue with the G4 Plus as well. I wonder how many people experience this on the new G5 Plus.

The Moto G5 Plus was designed with a water repellent nano-coating. This unique coating technology helps protect the phone against moderate exposure to water. For example, if you accidentally spill water on your phone or when your phone gets wet in a light rain. It's important to understand that this...

I really like the Moto G5 Plus design. The thing is that at the front it doesn't look so special (usually like in most phones, except the one with 3D curved display). However, the sides and the back really look stunning. It's not an expensive phone, but it does look like one. The Moto G Plus...

Models sold in the US

When you buy the G5 Plus in the US, it is shipped as universally unlocked for all major US networks, which is a great advantage for those in the US. This makes it easy to just swap SIM cards without needing to have a second device for the second SIM.

Corning Gorilla Glass 3 glass for added durability

The Moto G5 Plus features Corning's Gorilla Glass 3, which is a scratch resistant and durable glass. Not the latest of Corning's but still better than a non hardened glass. I will personally would use a case and a screen protector, nevertheless, it's nice to have this feature.
