The Honor View 20 rear facing camera uses a brand new Sony IMX586 image sensor which is 1/2-in in size featuring 0.8-micron pixels and 48MP pixel resolution. This brand new sensor is the same technology used with the renowned Huawei P20 Pro. According to what I've read, this new IMX 586 Quad-Bayer sensor improves the low-light performance of skills by increasing the sensor's sensitivity, adding four adjacent pixels to produce a single one color pixel in the final pixel in the image, which is pixel binning in short.
Of course, having a new sensor means that other things in the sensor might be improved and we can expect high image quality performance from this new sensor. If it's similar to the Huawei P20 Pro, I will be very satisfied. The aperture itself isn't among the fastest we've seen, I've already seen f/1.4 and f/1.5 apertures, but we won't know how good it really is until we see some sample images, yet, a brand new sensor for a flagship phone will surely won't disappoint.
