Fast F1.8 aperture lens for the rear camera

The aperture f-number signifies the size of the hole which lights pass through. A smaller f-number means more light. An F1.8 is a bright lens, which means plenty of light can pass through, and this helps improve the low-light performance of the rear camera.

Much more advanced iPhone X like TrueDepth camera feature

The V10 has much more advanced iPhone X like TrueDepth front-facing camera system which is capable of capturing 300,000 points in just 10 seconds. Just for comparison, the iPhone X is capable of 30,000 captures, which means it's 10 times more accurate!

4K video recording capability

The Honor V10 can record videos at 4K UHD resolution at 30 frames per second. A great feature for those of you who already have a 4K-enabled display at home, but even if not, it's great knowing that your great memories are saved in a very high quality.

Confirmed by the customer service, the Honor V10 rear camera lacks an optical image stabilization (OIS) for its rear camera (same goes to the front camera). The reason why an Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) is important is that it can vastly improve the low-light performance of the camera when...

No dual Leica lenses like the Huawei Mate 10 Pro

Quite disappointed to see that Huawei has decided to not use Leica co-engineered lenses in the V10 as the Huawei Mate 10 Pro. However, I would like to see an image quality comparison between the two to see the differences.

Uses UFS 2.1 storage technology

UFS 2.1 is a faster storage. It achieves two to four times the peak bandwidth of eMMC 5.1 in a more power-efficient manner. It also improved the system boot time by 15% and app loading times and switching between apps by 30%.

Uses fast LPDDR4X memory modules

The honor V10 uses LPDDR4X memory modules, which are identical to LPDDR4, accept that they are more power efficient due to reducing I/O voltage to 0.6 V rather than 1.1 V.

ARM's latest-generation high-end graphics card (Mali-G72MP12)

The Honor V10 sports ARM's latest generation GPU (as of November 2017), the Mali G72MP12. It performs between the Adreno 530 and 540 and suitable for demanding 3D Android mobile games. You can rest assured this baby will run all the latest games without lags or frame drops.

Plenty of internal storage space

The Honor V10 comes with lots of internal storage space, either 64GB or 128GB). If you find that lacking, you can always expand the storage using microSD card, but I think most people will find that offering sufficient for their needs.

Plenty of RAM (4GB/6GB)

The Huawei Honor V10 comes in either 4GB or 6GB of RAM, which means superb multitasking performance. No need to worry about apps closing in the background due to the lack of memory.

Follows the flagship's common 18:9 aspect ratio

The V10 follows the same 18:9 wide aspect ratio for the screen, same as the LG G6, Mate 10 Pro and other smartphones that comes with an edge-to-edge display.

High-resolution display (UHD)

The Honor V10 comes with a 1080x2160 UHD resolution display. This provides a super sharp and crisp image that enhanced the viewing experience. There is no pixelation and it's also great for mobile VR as well due to the high pixel density (403 ppi).

Huge 5.99-inch display

There is nothing better than viewing your photos and videos on a large display. The Honor V10 has just that, a massive 5.99-inch display which improves the viewing experience whether you are viewing photos, browsing the web, watching videos, playing games, etc.

Cons

No Gorilla Glass protection

The V10 features a TP protective film that protects the screen from scratches, but not from breaking. For this, it would have better to have a Gorilla Glass protection, preferably the latest Gorilla Glass 5, but it lacks this feature.

QHD display has negative impact on the battery life

Although I enjoy screens with high resolutions, a QHD display is overkill for a 6-inch smartphone and has a negative impact on the battery life. More pixels means more power needs to lit those pixels up.

No AMOLED display

Many phone manufacturers are switching to AMOLED for many reasons, including lower power consumption, always-on screen notifications, more vibrant visuals, deeper blacks, etc. Why honor has decided to go with an LCD is behind my understanding.

The Honor V10 has a very sleek and slim device with its depth measuring only 6.97mm. If you love slim looking phones, you'll love the V10.

Thin bezels

The Huawei Honor V10 features ultra-slim frame and slim top and bottom bezels. It's a phone with a 6" display but one that is similar in size to a 5.5" phone. So no compromises of size convenience, you can have a phablet without the large size burden.

Available in a variety of colors

The Honor V10 is available in a variety of colors, including Charm Red, Beach Gold, Aurora Blue and Night Dark Night (black). Users can choose the ones that best fit their style.

Cons

Camera protruding at the back

The dual cameras are protruding. This means that if you put the phone on a flat surface it won't be completely flat. This can also lead to scratches on the lens. I recommend using a TPU protective cover.

No water resistance (no IP rating)

Very disappointed to see that the V10 is not water resistant. Almost all the flagship phones introduced this year have water resistance and IP rating. I don't know why Honor has decided not to include this valuable feature.

Unlike the Mate 10 Pro, it does have a 3.5m headphone jack

The Mate 10 Pro dropped the 3.5mm mic port and I am happy that Huawei has decided to bring it back in the V10. No need for special adapters, just plug and play.

Users can expand over the onboard storage using a microSD card. Just keep in mind that it uses the SIM 2 slot. Which means you won't be able to use the memory card with two SIM cards at the same time.

Doesn't support microSD cards more than 256GB

I love shooting 4K videos and 256GB isn't enough for my needs. I always need to be aware of the available storage. If the V10 has supported higher capacity cards, I wouldn't have to worry about running out of space, but it won't be an issue for most users.

Hybrid Slot

Users won't be able to use two SIM cards with a memory card installed. You need to decide whether to use two SIM cards or drop one for a microSD card. There are Android smartphones out there that do have a 3-slot setting, the V10 lacks this feature.
